In 2011, South Africa’s elderly population stood at 4.1 million people over the age of 60. By 2030¹, that number is projected to rise to over 15 million. This growing demographic demands urgent attention, particularly in areas like geriatric care, which has been highlighted by the Department of Health² as a critical focus area for expansion.
With the emergence of the Groenkloof Foundation, we are uniquely positioned to meet these challenges head-on. Through our proactive programs, we aim to address gaps in care, raise awareness about the needs of the elderly, and provide tangible solutions for improved quality of life.
We are dedicated to sharing our knowledge freely and intentionally, not only within Groenkloof but throughout Southern Africa. Through education, research, and partnerships, we strive to develop and implement best practices in elderly care and support those working in the sector.
